Dr. Schweiger is the Buck Mickel/Fluor Daniel Professor of International Business at the University of South Carolina and Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management at EM Lyon in France where he teaches courses on strategic and international management, and mergers and acquisitions. He is also is actively involved in executive development programs for Emory University , London School of Economics, and Duke University Corporate Education. He is Managing Director of Schweiger, Lippert and Associates, a strategic management consulting firm. He is also chief of applied product development for the Schweiger-Larkey Group. Previously, he was a member of the faculty at the University of Houston . Prior to his academic career, he was an engineer with the Sperry Rand Corporation. He holds a DBA in Management from the University of Maryland , and a M.S. and a B.S. from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.

He has worked with numerous U.S. and international organizations including: Texaco, Ameritech, Home Depot, Verizon, Basic Element (Russia), BBA Nonwovens (England), 3M, Ingersoll Rand, Robert Bosch (Germany), Cox Communications, Hitachi, Westinghouse Nuclear Fuels, Sonoco Products, General Motors, Umbro International, Fluor Daniel, Air Liquide (France), Alcatel (France), Bank of America, Societe Generale (France), Greenwood Mills, Harris Semiconductor, Marion Merrell Dow, Warner Lambert, Spectra Physics, Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson), AKZO (Netherlands), The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Jones Group, Carolina Power and Light, the Public Service Company of North Carolina, Seibels Bruce Group, Cooper Vision, Rea Construction, South Carolina Electric and Gas, Power One, and  Fersan (Dominican Republic). He also was a member of the Board of Directors of a large diversified privately held company. His consulting experience includes facilitating top management teams in developing and implementing strategies, integrating mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and alliances; and building multinational organizations.

He has also conducted numerous executive and management development programs including the "Mergers and Acquisitions Professional Development" workshop for the Human Resource Planning Society, and the "Creating Value Through Successfully Integrating Mergers and Acquisitions" workshop for the University of South Carolina's Daniel Management Center. He was also on the faculty of the HR College for General Motors University where he conducted a program on "Developing HR Managers into Strategic Partners. He has spoken for numerous groups in a variety of industries, including a keynote speech on International Mergers and Acquisitions at the G8 Countries Conference in Lyon France in 1998.

Dr. Schweiger's research has been widely published in scientific and professional journals, including the Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Dynamics, Personnel Administrator, Academy of Management Executive, and Human Resource Management. He has also published a book, Strategic Management Skills . He has recently published chapters on creating value through acquisitions and effectively managing top management teams in the Handbook of Business Strategy and the Handbook of Human Resource Management. Reports on his work have also been featured in Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Changing Times, Working Woman Magazine, and Strategic Directions. In February 2002 his book "M&A Integration: A Framework For Executives and Managers" was be published by McGraw-Hill. He is currently working on a new book, "The Heart of Senior Leadership."

He is currently International Strategic Management Editor for the Journal of World Business. He is past Editor of Human Resource Planning and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Human Resource Planning Society. He is also a member of a number of Editorial Boards and professional societies.
